Phil Klipp Memorial Scholarship Award (athletic): $750
One of the many achievements Christina Gagliardi is most proud of would be her athletic skills. Some of her participation includes: Field Hockey for 4 years and was Captain in her Senior year and was also "All Section" in her Senior year; Indoor Track - and was also Captain and "All League" in her Senior year; Girls' Lacrosse, Captain 4 years and received "Coaches Award; Horseback riding and received several "High Point" awards. "I love the sports that I play and I'm extremely dedicated to them and am always looking to improve. "Playing sports makes me learn from mistakes that happen during games." Christina in a very open person who loves to help others during sports or academic activities. "I love the feeling of knowing that you just helped someone learn something or become more skilled." To no one's surprise, Christina is considering "teaching/coaching" as a career.
Alumni Association Scholarship Award (academics and service): $5,000
Some of Allison Long's academic honors include National Honor Society; HHS Peer Leader in senior year; selected as one of the "Top Seniors of Westchester County" by Westchester Magazine; Honor Roll; Magna Cum Laude; National Latin Exam in ninth grade; President of Student Government as senior; NYC /Hastings HS Thanksgiving Dinner for the Homeless; WestMUNC Grades 9-12 Selected as Committee Chair of the African Summit in Jr. Year; SADD President, Grade 12; SADD Chaired the "Wear Red" Campaign, Grade 11; selected to attend the SADD Drunk Driving Conference 2006; Teen Drinking Action Council 2005; one of six selected to represent HHS at the Anti-Steroid Conference; Habitat for Humanity, grades 11-12; CARE Club, grades 11-12. Outside Community Service … CYO assisting at basketball games and Coach 3rd grade girls' team in Senior year. American Heart Assoc. Fundraiser; Blood Drive; Trash Crew at Arts Festival; Retirement Home Visits. Athletics - Basketball - Varsity starter 4 Yrs; Captain, Sr. Yr; Scored 1,015 career points which is the 3rd highest in Hastings Girls' Basketball history. Leading 3-point scores in Girls' HHS history. Many awards including: All League; All Section; Coaches Award; All Tournament Athletics- Tennis 4 Yr; Captain, Sr. Year; All League, Coaches Award; Honorable Mention All Section, All League. Athletics-Softball - 4 Yrs; Coaches Award, Scholar Athlete team; Honorable mention All Section, All League. As one teacher was quoted as saying, "While her scholastic and athletic achievements are impressive, it is obvious that she is a young lady who is academically motivated, intelligent and well-rounded. She is a student, a school leader and a role model. I am sure that this is all clearly shown on her application." We all agree!
Ronald W. Lindemann Athletic Award: $2,500
Greg Weidner was best known as the ace pitcher of the Yellow jackets and why not? Voted "All League", picked as the Mt Vernon tournament MVP, selected for the Pearl River tournament first team, and four years of outstanding performances. Greg also played basketball for four years. He is a "team guy" with a high competitive spirit. Although outstanding as an athlete, "he also is a scholar and accomplished musician as well," to quote the school counselor. Greg is a student who is tireless in his effort to excel, whether it is in the classroom, on the baseball mound or in the orchestra pit. He has been in honors level classes since the ninth grade. His teachers describe him as a conscientious student who often looked for challenges throughout his high school career.
